In October 2024, Lani was nominated for the Iowa Music Awards and won Latin Artist of the Year. Lani has continuously proven to be a thoughtful and outspoken voice for Latin-American culture in Iowa, showing the little bits of her Colombian roots through her Spanish lyrics, energetic rhythms, and spunky melodies, continuously trailblazing the path as a female, Latina, pop musician in Des Moines. She is a triple threat--powerful vocals, profound songwriting, and evolving talent. With this win, Lani continues to represent Iowa in a way that the country will not see coming.
Who is Lani?
Being a first-generation child of Colombian immigrants, Lani has never quite fit in with any particular group of people. Her home was in one place, with her roots in another.
In a sea of reds with blood of blues, Lani’s identity glows purple. How do you explain color to someone who has never seen color before when you can barely understand the differences yourself?
